— Advent Prayer and Scripture Meditation occurs every Wednesday in the Legion of Mary room in the parish centre starting at 12:15 p.m. (enter by the office door). No registration is required. Just come.
— The St. Emile Parish Christmas Party takes place on Sunday 17 December from 12 to 3 p.m. Lunch is pot luck so be sure to sign up at the back of the church before then and indicate what kind of dish (and how many diners) you will be bringing.
— Christmas Hampers will be distributed to the parish’s food bank families on December 19th. Contributions of purchased jams, peanut butter, canned fruit and vegetables and soup, and, of course, candy and chocolate are needed to fill the hampers. Gifts for the children are also needed; to contribute, just select a note from the small Christmas tree at the entrance of the church and purchase the gift indicated on the paper, then bring the unwrapped gift to the church Sunday, December 17th.
— A Parish Celebration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation will occur in St. Emile Church on Wednesday 20 December beginning at 7 p.m.
Liturgically speaking, the morning of December 24th is the 4th Sunday of Advent, so the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses are not Christmas Masses.
If you attend one of the 4th Sunday of Advent morning Masses, you are still able to celebrate the Nativity of the Lord by attending one of the Christmas Masses during the evening of the 24th because they are different celebrations.
Sunday 24 December:
- St. Emile Parish: 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
- Syro Malabar: 7 p.m.
Monday 25 December: 11 a.m. only.
